My Moon, Chapter 9 pg 8
My Moon, Chapter 9 pg 8
[Okay, okay, send the work to me, Klai. I’ve refilled the printer’s ink and it’s ready.]
“Alright, I’ll send it right after hanging up.”
[Got it.]
Klai hung up with Pie and quickly sent the updated work file to his friend via email. Before, Klai never felt anything special seeing his own email name, but now he had to suppress a grin when he saw the English letters spelling out his name.
‘Such a cute name.’
The reason he had to hold back his smile so hard wasn’t because of the name, Klaijai.
It was because of the person who complimented his name.
After sending the work to Pie via email, the small figure let out a sigh of relief, having finished the task on time as planned. Klai leaned back in the large cushioned chair to ease his fatigue, then grabbed his black phone to open the LINE app.
8:30 PM.
The chat room with Moon was still empty. After Panli added him on the LINE, he hadn’t sent any messages, and Klai, secretly waiting, didn’t dare to message first, unsure if the other wanted to talk.
Klai sighed again. But this time, it wasn’t out of relief. His mind kept searching for ways to start a good conversation like before. He thought chatting with Panli face-to-face was hard, but starting a conversation through text was several times harder.
Thud!
The black phone lay flat on its back in the same spot, before its owner shifted their attention from waiting for someone by choosing to listen to music instead. However, while selecting songs on the laptop, a flood of thoughts surged in.
“Will Panli send the football field location today?”
...Or maybe tomorrow morning?
“No way... he’ll probably send it today, but Panli must be busy, so...”
To stop the whirlwind of thoughts clashing in their head, Klai hurriedly played a song. Without much care in choosing, just to drown out the new thoughts sprouting endlessly.
“Have you ever been unable to forget someone? At night, my heart sways, wanting to reach out, but scared they won’t reply.”
Here it is... the punishment for not choosing a song carefully.
Because the world loves to tease us with songs that hit too close to home.
All Klai could do was stare at the screen. “When we meet, I can only dream, wanting to say hi, but only passing by, eyes glancing.”
“...”
Because he knew well there wasn’t a single thing that would make him turn and notice. “All I have is this heart, but is it enough for her to look my way? I just watch her, not knowing when she’ll turn around, waiting for her, but she doesn’t know.”
LINE, ~
The small figure quickly grabbed the phone. But the message on the screen slowed the racing heartbeat.
Ppie: Klai, we’ve finished printing the work.
glaijai: Okay, ~
A warm breath escaped through nose and mouth before the black phone was placed back in its original spot. Klai turned up the music a bit louder.
“Why do I keep waiting? I really like her, but I still don’t know when I’ll tell her. All I do is wait, wait, wait, just wait, wait, wait.”
LINE ~
The person softly singing, “just wait, wait, wait,” reached for the phone to reply to a new message from a close friend.
P. Panli: Asleep yet?
“Because I, because I’m the team waiting for her.”
Now... Klai understood the song Team Waiting for Her with all their heart.
The person on Team Wait-for--Moon smiled widely before swiping the screen to reply to the other’s message.
glaijai: Not yet :)
P. Panli: sent a location
P. Panli: This is the address of the football field where I’ll be playing tomorrow.
glaijai: Okay, okay.
P. Panli: Phii Dom will be playing football too.
glaijai: Last week, Phii Dom mentioned it, but I thought it was just casual play with friends… I didn’t know it was a serious match.
P. Panli: It’s actually an annual match between Phii Fah and his friends… It’s not really about me, but Phii Fah’s friend, Phii Hia, asked me to join to help their team score.
glaijai: That means you must be really good at football then.
P. Panli: …Not really. Just decent enough.
Panli was being so humble that Klai didn’t know how to respond. So, he chose to send a sweet-smiling rabbit sticker instead.
glaijai: sent a sticker
P. Panli: Not good at talking?
P. Panli: But good at sending stickers, huh?
Klai smiled faintly before replying.
glaijai: Sorry, I’m really not good at talking, even when texting.
Klaijai truly wasn’t good at chatting.
But if they got closer… Panli would see Klaijai bragging nonstop.
P. Panli: Being yourself isn’t wrong… No need to apologize.
P. Panli: Tomorrow, my match is from noon to afternoon.
P. Panli: KhunKlai, you have to stay and return the shirt to me in person… Otherwise, I won’t take it back.
glaijai: Okay, I’ll stay and return the shirt to Panli myself.
P. Panli: Okay.
It felt like their conversation had reached its end.
Keeping it going wasn’t easy.
glaijai: sent a sticker
So, Klai sent a rabbit sticker with an OK hand gesture and sparkling eyes to Moon.
P. Panli: Klaijai
Thump, thump, thump
Every time Panli calls out “Klaijai,” my heart races…
glaijai: Yes?
P. Panli: sent a sticker
Panli sends a sticker of a small white rabbit sleeping soundly on a crescent moon. Klai can’t help but smile, and his grin widens when he sees the latest message from Moon.
P. Panli: Good night.
glaijai: Mhm, good night to you too.
glaijai: sent a sticker
The final sticker Klai chooses to send to Moon is a rabbit with sparkling eyes, waving goodbye. Moon probably thinks he’s just saying farewell.
But in truth…
If Moon looked deeper into the eyes of that rabbit,
Moon would know…
Klaijai is totally smitten with Moon
