The Next Prince, Chapter 21 pg3

“May I humbly request your favor...” Charan spoke with respect before raising his own teacup to sip. Time seemed to linger longer than the highest peak of the country would accommodate.

“What's the buzz about Khanin like?” Dhipabawon's voice was calm, not filled with any anxiousness. The older man inquired, knowing full well that Charan was already aware of all the ongoing situations.

It has always been like this. Charan is an observant listener but tends to keep information to himself, waiting to be asked rather than volunteering it, unlike many people. Charan is not one to seek attention. That's why Dhipabawon considers him one of the trustworthy individuals.Phitakthewa family has never disappointed Atsawathewathin family.

“There are both positive and negative aspects, dear. Some think it's deception. Although there is medical evidence supporting it and some have hope, the Young Prince created inspiration and encouragement for the younger generation.”

   “Well, then.”

“Yes, Your Majesty, almost all media outlets, both domestic and international, are interested in the Young-Lord's matter.”

Words spoken by Charan have made Dhipabawon pause, easing the tension in his shoulders, as everything falls into place according to plan.

“Alright, let it be like this. Let there be a shining light to keep Khanin safe.”

“...” Charan bows his head, accepting the words. The young man agrees with this thought. Khanin may have to endure being watched, but at least this way, the other side will be safe.

Khanin's charming face inserts itself into Charan's thoughts, diverting his attention from the fragrance of the tea. Charan sips the warm liquid in his cup.

The young man inadvertently thinks of someone else... and suddenly, certain realities come rushing back into the present. Charan came back to his senses

“For those who don't believe, it doesn't matter. Khanin has royal blood. He is Atsawathewathin. No matter what, this truth cannot be changed. He is the future king.” The statement of the highest authority in the country is the truth.

Charan swallows a lump in his throat and feels an unusual tightness in his chest, as if something within is contradicting his outward demeanor.

“Yes, Your Majesty.” The calming sensation remains, but the inner feeling is different. Charan warns himself about his status. He brushes away wandering thoughts before placing his teacup back on the tray, no longer perceiving the relaxation from the tea's taste.

“Thank you, Charan, for safely bringing Khanin back. From now on, Grandfather will give you time to be with the work you love, to go wherever you want to go. As for Khanin...”

   “...”

“I will arrange for someone to take care of him so that you won't be burdened.” The 5th floor guardian's favor towards Charan remains unchanged, and the good wish from the elderly seems like a veiled declaration that his mission is completed.

His duty was to bring Khanin back here, and now it's over.

“I sincerely thank you, Your Majesty.”

From now on... they should keep their distance from each other more, shouldn't they?

Khanin steps briskly along the corridor, taking an opportunity to withdraw from the various caretakers heading towards the garden in front of the royal palace. He requests a break from Chakri, asking for some personal time apart.

The important reason is... he wasn't born in the golden horse family, he never lived with constant supervision. So, the most important thing for Khanin at this moment is time. It's fortunate that the other party understands. Chakri agrees to let him escape from the countless interviews and gives him time to contemplate.

A warm breath escapes, the sky above changes its color, and Khanin returns to his old spot beside the waterfall pond, listening to the splashing water, waiting to hear the footsteps of someone.

Ten minutes seemed to pass before, just like some people whom Chakri said were being summoned to have tea with the Sovereign-King, Charan's face seemed burdened with concerns. Until he heard a shout calling from him. His initial posture changed.

   “You!”

“....” Charan walked straight towards the other Person like yesterday. The face that used to be troubled turned indifferent, the tall figure stopped in front, and the young man had the privilege of raising the topic.

“Do you see the trend? Now my friend in England must be shocked beyond belief. That Paul keeps sending messages without stopping. Saying I lied to him, saying I would come to do urgent business and stay. Now it has turned into an heir apparent... You, what is wrong with you?”

Khanin expressed his feelings at length, referring to what he himself had to encounter, but he hesitated when the reaction of the person in front of him differed every time.

   “...”

“What's bothering you...” Because Charan was silent and just looked at him, Khanin wondered. The young man stepped closer, before speaking a few words, holding his white body still.

   “Your Highness...”

“?..” Khanin felt puzzled. He raised his eyebrows slightly because he is not sure what the tall person wants to communicate, initially Khanin understood that Charan just wanted to tease him like every time the other side chose to pick up royal terms to use.

But it seems that this time...

“Your Highness, I think that you should adjust your posture with the rules of someone from your station, Your Highness.” “What is it?”

   ...Something changed.

“The royal lineage, such as Your Highness, should not use common terms to talk to each other.”

   “...”

   Changed a lot...

“Your Highness will do everything right from now on, just like an heir apparent himself should do.”
