My Moon, Chapter 18.1 pg 2

“I didn’t tell Panli I’d wear this shirt to the beach… I wanted to surprise him,” Klai said.

His brother smiled before saying, “When we decided to invest in opening the store in Siam with the partners, those two siblings argued a lot during that time.”

“By ‘those two,’ you mean Phii Fah and Panli, right?” Klai asked.

“Yeah, but it wasn’t serious fighting. It’s just that Fah, being the older brother, was overly worried about his little sibling and still saw him as a kid.”

   “…”

“As for Panli, he didn’t really listen to Fah much. Back then, we were so frustrated. Sometimes during class, Fah would call and argue with Panli.”

   “…”

“In the end, Fah couldn’t stop him. Panli secretly took hundreds of thousands from his savings to invest with his partners. On the opening day of the store, Fah was there. I still remember him coming back and saying to us, ‘My little brother’s really grown up.’”

Klai smiled and said, “Actually, Phii Fah’s words carry a deep meaning.”

   “…”

“It’s like he was saying… Panli’s pretty impressive too.”

“Both siblings in that family are so stubborn. They rarely say anything heartfelt to each other.”

“But their actions show how much they love each other.”

   “Exactly… like you and me.”

The younger one smiled at his older brother before glancing at Phii Real, who got into the car with an annoyed expression. Real chose to sit in the front row next to Phii Dom, while Phii Hia and Phii Ko sat in the second row. As the sliding door closed, a voice from the back piped up.

“Let’s go, Uncle. Ko’s done taking a dump.”

   “Yes, sir,” the driver replied.

“You jerk! Can’t you just say ‘let’s go’ without embarrassing me?”

It wasn’t just Klai who chuckled at the exchange between the two seniors—everyone in the car burst into laughter. He turned to smile at his brother, thinking…

This trip’s gonna be a blast.

“My friends can be a bit chaotic, Klai.”

Klai laughed and said, “Don’t call it chaotic—lively’s more like it.”

“Oh, and did Panli mention that the resort in Rayong we’re heading to belongs to his uncle?”

Klai nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah, when we talked on the phone before bed, Panli mentioned it. I just don’t remember which day.”

   “Oh…”

At that moment, both his brother’s tone and expression made Klai realize that he noticed the shift in their relationship. It was probably the phrase “we talked on the phone before bed” that revealed how close they’d become. If two people aren’t particularly close or don’t mean a lot to each other emotionally, no one would give up their personal time to spend it all on a phone call—especially before bed. Klai believed most people would want that time to themselves after a long day. But when there’s someone who makes you want to spend that moment with them…

I want him to be the last person to tuck me in at night…

…That person must have quite an influence on my heart.

Right now, Klaijai wasn’t sure what Phii Dom was thinking. He hadn’t intended to hide the rapid progression of their relationship, but he hadn’t fully shared it either. This was because Klaijai still carried many worries in his heart. He wanted things to go further, and once the outcome was clear, he promised himself he would share every detail and feeling with everyone.

His older brother gave a knowing smile, glancing at Klaijai’s light yellow shirt before saying, “By now… you and Panli must be pretty close, right?”

“Yes…” Klaijai thought the phrase not lying, but not telling everything still applied to this situation. “We’re much closer now.”

“Honestly, even without hearing it from you, just looking at you two, I can tell how close you and Panli are.”

   “…”

“I’m happy for you, Klaijai, that you’re close with Panli. Besides me and your close friends, now you have Panli by your side too.”

“Actually, I have to thank you Phii Dom for introducing me to Panli. If you hadn’t invited him to my birthday party, we wouldn’t have become this close.”

Phii Dom smiled and asked, “This ‘close’… it’s more than just close friends, isn’t it?”

That was exactly what Klaijai meant to convey. He raised his hand, gesturing to indicate, “A little more than that.”

His brother chuckled softly, reached out to ruffle his hair, then pulled back to talk to Phii Real, who was asking about a shortcut to Theerak’s house. The smaller man slid open the curtain by the window, gazing at the sky, which seemed to have more stars than usual.

Klaijai wasn’t sure if it was because Panli had been joining him for lunch some days lately or something else that made his brother start wondering about their relationship. But what Phii Dom said confirmed that the “close” status wasn’t just clear to the two of them.

He used to worry about how to let others know about their evolving relationship, as it changed every day. He couldn’t even predict what tomorrow might bring.

   Tomorrow…

They might become more than “close.”

Or they might stay just “close.”

No one could know… not even the two of them.

Since he couldn’t foresee the future, it sparked worry in his heart. But one thing was certain: he wanted to do his best to preserve everyone’s feelings—Phii Dom’s, Panli’s, his friends’, and everyone around him, including his own.

But now Klai realized something else… Predicting the future wasn’t what truly made him anxious. It was worrying about how others would perceive him that caused the unease.

He feared being questioned about things when he hadn’t yet found perfect answers.

He feared taking too long to find those answers, allowing others to make assumptions before he could reveal the truth.

His older brother’s words made Klai understand that the future and others’ thoughts are things beyond his ability to know or predict. Realizing that even with superpowers he couldn’t control these two things, he decided to let everything return to its rightful place.

Let the future belong to its own time.

Let thoughts belong to their true owners.

Let the future unfold without him worrying about it.

Let others’ thoughts be theirs without him getting involved.

Whatever the future holds, let it be—it’s tomorrow’s concern.

Whatever others think, let it be—it’s their thoughts, not his.

But if someone were to say that sharing his relationship with another person is important, and asked his opinion on it, Klai would probably say…
