My Moon, Chapter 26 pg 1

   Chapter 26:

The small figure lugged the massive bouquet and laid it on the sofa, staring at it briefly before shaking his head lightly. It didn’t seem right to just leave it there like that.

Klai had already moved the bouquet several times. Normally, he only received small bouquets, so he’d never had to deal with storage issues before.

His almond-shaped eyes scanned the room again, searching for a suitable spot to place the oversized bouquet. When his gaze landed on the chair by the work desk, a smile began to spread across his face. His slender arms wrapped around the bouquet, and he carried it over to set it upright on the chair. He smiled and nodded in satisfaction.

This is perfect… the best spot.

After arranging the bouquet Panli had given him to celebrate performing music with the seniors at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Klai went to shower, feeling sticky from the day. He took his time bathing, emerging with the fresh scent of soap lingering in the room.

While toweling his damp hair, the small figure walked over to grab his phone, which was lying idly on the bed, to check it. There were LINE messages from his two close friends on the screen, but no texts or missed calls from the person he was waiting for. Klai pursed his lips, worrying about Panli. After agreeing to let him stay over at the condo tonight, they had parted ways since Panli needed to run errands and grab clothes from home. So, Klai had decided to give him the spare condo key card.

Counting the time since we parted until now, Klai thought Panli had been quiet for too long. Normally, he’d be messaging him constantly on LINE. If he was really busy, he’d call instead. Klai tossed the damp towel into the wicker basket before dialing Panli.

   Clunk!

While waiting for the call to connect, Klai heard a sound like a large door outside closing. He quickly hung up and opened the bedroom door to check. A warm breath of relief escaped his lips when he saw the tall figure, carrying a familiar helmet, step into the room. But today, he was also holding a branded leather bag.

“I was just calling you, Panli. You’ve been too quiet for too long.”

“I was rushing to finish some work so I could come see you sooner, KhunKlai…” he said, placing the helmet and the leather bag, likely containing clothes, on the desk.

At first, Klai thought he wouldn’t feel anything about Panli staying over, since they’d been alone together plenty of times before. But when the tall man turned and flashed him a smile, he realized he was wrong.

   A little nervous, huh…

Because this pup has way too many tricks.

Not sure how much he could handle him…

But Klai also thought… in the future, they might have to live together, and there’d be no avoiding sharing a bed. So he should start getting used to it early.

Panli walked over, wrapping both arms around him and pulling him close. He tightened the hug, then leaned down, pressing his nose to Klai’s cheek with a loud smooch.

“You smell so good…” he said softly, giving a sly look. “What soap does you use?”

   “Bath & Body Works…”

“If I use it… will I smell as good as you?”

Klai smiled, wrinkling his nose at him. “I don’t know… you will have to try it and let me sniff to see if you smell the same.”

The tall man chuckled in his throat, still not letting him go. Panli nuzzled his nose against Klai’s left cheek, then the right, alternating sides. Klai thought Panli was getting revenge for being sniffed on the cheek in front of the Fine Arts building.

But it feels like Panli’s getting way too much revenge…

Klai had wanted to say this truth for a long time… He believed everyone should love themselves before loving others, and of course, that’s how it should be. But there are probably only a few people who make us feel like we love ourselves even more.

But Klai… he loved himself more when he was with Panli. He loved himself more every day because Panli made a shy person like him bolder in expressing himself, braver in sharing his true feelings, and daring to follow his heart. Klai never felt forced or like his identity was being swallowed up.

And one more important thing is…

Panli gave him the courage to love again.

   Kiss

“If tomorrow I feels sore on my cheeks… I will blame you, puppy.”

Panli laughed heartily, then bit his lip as if holding back a grin. “Then… should we switch from cheeks to somewhere else?”

“The sofa…” Klai said, nodding toward the long sofa. “Switching from cheeks to the sofa might be better.”

“I’m scared now… no more kisses then. The puppy doesn’t want to sleep on the sofa.”

Klai chuckled softly before asking, “Has the puppy eaten anything yet?”

“I ate already. Before coming here, Mom made me something.”

Klai nodded slightly, then said, “But you haven’t showered yet, right?”
