My Moon, Chapter 31 pg 2
It’s been over two weeks since Klai took Panli to meet his family. Today, it was Panli’s turn to bring him to meet his own family.
Panli said that his dad and mom had returned from Hong Kong a few days ago, and he also mentioned that they had already met the partner of their eldest son. Now, it was time for them to meet the partner of their youngest son.
“KhunKlai... are you nervous?”
“Uh... it’s probably like when I took you to my house.”
“...”
“...Maybe a little.”
“Dad and Mom are super kind. No need to worry.”
As Panli finished speaking, he let one hand slip from the steering wheel to hold Klai’s hand. Klai returned a smile to the man who briefly glanced away from the road to look at him.
Not long after, the car pulled up in front of a large gate. As soon as the iron gate slid open automatically, Panli’s favorite pearl-white Benz sped into the grand house.
Klai gazed at the large fountain in front of the house, featuring a statue of Cupid shooting an arrow. Panli drove around the fountain to park in front of the large wooden doors. Once the car was stationary, the man behind the wheel unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to nod invitingly. Klai quickly unbuckled his own seatbelt. But before he could reach for the car door, someone had already opened it for him.
Klai stepped out of the car, bowing his head to thank the young man in a gray suit who held the door open for him. Panli, who had stopped in front of him, handed the car keys to the man and said…
“Phii Peck, you don’t need to park the car in the garage. I’ll be using it again soon.”
“Understood, Young Master.”
“Not Young Master, Phii Peck. I’m already this grown.”
“…”
“Look… grown enough to bring my wife to introduce to Pa and Ma.”
The man called Phii Peck pressed his lips together to suppress a smile before saying, “Yes, Little Li.”
“Yes… just call me that.”
Klai smiled as he watched Panli chat with the man in the gray suit. Then, remembering something, he quickly walked to the back door of the car, leaned in, and pulled out a jar of cookies.
“Come on, KhunKlai, let me carry that for you.”
“No, it’s fine. I can carry it.”
“No way. I have to take the best care of Pa and Ma’s daughter-in-law.”
Panli said as he reached out to take the cookie jar from him. Holding it with one hand, he used the other to grasp Klai’s hand, leading him into the house.
Klai glanced around the house. The interior was beautifully and luxuriously decorated. Compared to their own home, Panli’s house was probably five times larger. So, Klai figured there must be more than five maids in this house.
The two of them stopped in a spacious room, which Klai guessed was the living room, given its airy atmosphere and the various furniture inside. He thought this room was perfect for relaxing.
“Well, you’re here already?”
At that moment, a deep voice drew his attention from the spacious room. Klai turned to look at the source of the sound behind him. He saw a middle-aged man and woman standing there, smiling at him warmly.
Even though Panli hadn’t introduced the middle-aged man in front of him, Klai immediately knew he was “Pa” because Panli looked like a carbon copy of him. Klai also guessed that the middle-aged woman standing next to Pa was “Ma” because her sharp eyes reminded him so much of Phii Fah.
Now Klai understood that the older brother resembled Ma, while the younger brother took after Pa. However, both siblings inherited their tall, sturdy builds and fair, clear skin from Pa.
“Klaijai is here, Pa…” Panli said.
Though Klai felt a bit nervous, he didn’t forget how to behave in front of elders. He raised his hands to pay respect to Pa and Ma, then gave them both a smile.
“Hello, Pa, Ma.”
“Little Klai…” Ma said softly, stepping forward to hug him. Klai’s eyes widened slightly before he returned the embrace. He hadn’t expected such a warm welcome.
“I told you there’s nothing to worry about. Pa and Ma are super kind,” Panli said.
Klai gave a small smile as he pulled away from Ma’s hug. He bowed his head slightly when Pa gently patted his back. The Pisut family made him understand the meaning of being “swarmed with love.”
“Ma and Pa woke up early to wait for you, Little Klai” Pa said.
“Yeah… Ma was so excited, she woke Pa up to shower and get ready to wait for you since morning,” Ma added.
‘Little Klai.’
Now Klai understood where Panli got his habit of coming up with cute nicknames.
:-)
“Thank you for waking up early to wait for me,” Klai said.
“It’s not just Pa and Ma who were excited. KhunKlai was just as thrilled. This morning, he rushed to get butter cookies from home to bring for Ma,” Panli said, holding up a jar of cookies for both to see.
“Oh… so you only brought something for Ma? What about me?” Pa asked.
“Uh…” Klai stammered, caught off guard by the question. He had intended to bring Phii Jeab’s butter cookies for both of them, but the big puppy’s words caused a misunderstanding.
“No need to feel bad, dear… you’ll make Little Klai overthink,” Ma said.
Klai let out a quiet sigh of relief when he saw Pa chuckling softly. He realized Pa was just teasing. Now he knew where Panli got his playful streak from…
“Pa’s always teasing like this, but you’ll get used to it, KhunKlai,” Panli said, gently patting his shoulder.
“My Little Klai is just as fun to tease as the chubby puppy,” Pa added.
Chubby puppy?
Pa must mean ‘Theerak.’
“Before Pa teases Little Klai any more, I need to whisk him away to regroup…” Ma paused, taking his hand and holding it gently before continuing, “Panli, Ma’s going to borrow Son Klai for a bit, okay?”
“I am taking him to help prepare snacks in the kitchen.”
“Okay, Ma. I’ll hang out with Pa here,” Panli replied.
