My Moon, Chapter 20 pg 3

My Moon, Chapter 20 pg 3

As Pie said… being with someone you like or love isn’t boring at all. Klai thought that even if they were surrounded by silence without any conversation, the two of them wouldn’t feel awkward. Because in that silence, they were communicating through their eyes.

   Eyes that said…

When you came into my life,

The same old world wasn’t so bad anymore.

The same old world wasn’t boring anymore.

The same old world became our world instead.

Klai looked away from the glass screen to check the clock on the white wall. He figured Moon would arrive soon, so he typed a message thanking his three close friends for their great advice. They all sent back messages wishing him well.

Ppie: Hope you have a great time with Moon, Klai.

   MaMay: +1, same as Pie!

And then another message popped up.

Kant sent him a private message, outside the group chat.

   KantHimself: Be super happy, man.

KantHimself: It’s finally time for you to be truly happy for once.

   KantHimself: Sounds dramatic, I know.

KantHimself: But I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long.

KantHimself: The moment I get to see you this happy.

Klai gave a faint smile as he read Kant’s messages. His nose stung as he typed a reply to his friend.

glaijai: Thanks for always being you, you know.

glaijai: For always being the Kant who’s sincere with Klaijai.

   KantHimself: sent a sticker

After receiving a sticker of a brown bear with hearts floating around it, Klai sent the same sticker back to his close friend, then typed a message to thank his other two friends in the group chat. He looked down at his loose, white sleep shirt. Since he hadn’t gone anywhere today, Klai was just wearing a large white T-shirt that had been washed so much it was looser than when he first bought it, paired with cream-colored shorts he’d recently purchased.

Klai thought he should change his shirt. He stood up from the chair, intending to head to the bathroom to change. But before he could reach it, a knock sounded at the door.

He walked to the large door instead, his slender hand gripping the doorknob while he glanced down at his worn-out sleep shirt. Klai shook his head and used his other hand to tug the loose collar up slightly to cover his chest.

When the white door creaked open, Klai saw a tall, impeccably dressed figure standing outside, smiling faintly. Panli was wearing a white button-up shirt tucked into black jeans, his favorite sneakers, and the same watch he always wore.

   “Hey there…”

“Didn’t you say you’d be here in thirty minutes, puppy?”

   “…”

   “Why so early?”

“Well, someone said they missed me too… so I hurried over.”

The large door was opened wider. Klai pursed his lips, embarrassed, as those eyes lingered on his loose shirt, then drifted down to his shorts before meeting his gaze again. When Klai looked down, he only then noticed the matte black full-face helmet Panli was holding.

Looking up at the helmet’s owner again, Klai saw him still staring, but this time the puppy’s smile was more mischievous than ever. Klai knew he had to do something—otherwise, that smile and gaze would burn him until he melted into the floor.

   “Puppy… come inside.”

The invited guest burst out laughing before nodding. “Alright… here I come.”

As the tall figure, carrying a faint, pleasant scent, walked past him into the room, Klai, the room’s owner, quickly closed the door. He then poked his finger at the left side of his chest, scolding something trembling inside.

Stop beating so hard… and you should be used to Puppy’s smiles and looks by now, heart.

      And his heart replied…

“How can I get used to it?! Puppy keeps coming up with new smiles and looks all the time!”

A breath escaped through his mouth and nose, because Klai knew his heart was telling the truth. His slender hand let go of the doorknob, and he turned to look at the tall figure who had taken off his sneakers, placing them neatly next to Klai’s shoes, and walked to the middle of the room. He turned, flashing a smile, and said,

“Where can Li put this helmet?”

“Oh, uh… you can put it anywhere…” Klai looked at the helmet in Moon’s hands. He seemed very protective of it. Though Klai didn’t know much about these things, he figured it must be expensive. “Panli’s helmet must cost a lot, right?”

Klai stepped closer to the taller man, stopping in front of him. One slender hand reached out to touch the round helmet, curious about its texture. But the low chuckle from the tall man holding it made Klai look up, and the bright smile in front of him made Klai smile back.

“For you… I already ordered one for you.”

   “Huh, for me?”

“Yup… when you ride on the back of my bike, you’ll need to wear a helmet too.”

Klai pressed his lips together to hold back a smile. He didn’t really want a helmet, but he was just happy that Panli always thought of him. “How much is mine? … I’ll pay for it myself.”

The taller man leaned his face closer to Klai, wrinkling his nose playfully. “Not telling… because I’m paying for it.”

Klai, flustered by the words and actions, quickly looked down at the floor, muttering softly as if only for himself to hear, “…Getting way too cute, you little pup.”

“So, can I put the helmet on the desk?”

Klai looked up at the man waiting for an answer. He reached out with both hands to take the large helmet from its owner, hugged it, and said with a smile, “Sure… but I’ll put it there for you.”

The “pup” grinned widely and nodded. “Thanks!”

The smaller man walked to the desk to place the helmet, glancing at Moon, who was scanning the room. Then, he walked over and stopped in front of him.

“What do you think of my room?”

“It’s really cute…” Panli gave a shy smile, then added, “…I mean the owner of the room.”

Moon’s reply made Klai break into a wide smile. “The pup’s dodging the question again.”
