My Moon, Chapter 29 pg 5
“I just want you to spend time with your friends like before.”
“…”
“They all went out of their way to come to your place, which means they must really miss you.”
“…”
“Yeah, yeah, we missed you a ton, Li!”
“Shut up, you jerk… I know you guys just want to see me go crazy.”
At the end of Panli’s words, all his friends burst into loud laughter, and even he couldn’t help but smile amusedly. When the big puppy saw him laughing along with his friends, he pulled his waist, making him straddle his lap.
“You’re enjoying this… seeing me like this makes you happy.”
Klai smiled softly while meeting the gaze of the sturdy figure, thinking… the reason he allowed Panli’s friends to come watch the game at their place was because he wanted him to spend time with his friends like before. And Klai also wanted to be a part of Panli’s life with his friends.
In the future, Klai, Panli, and everyone else would be able to hang out comfortably together. Since Panli loves his friends quite a bit, being able to get along with them was a good thing. And another important reason was…
Klai didn’t want ‘a lover’ to be the only source of happiness in Panli’s life. He wanted him to find joy in all the things he used to do, just like before.
“Panli…” Klai said, reaching up to cradle the other’s face before planting a quick kiss on the big puppy’s lips. “…Whatever you used to do with his friends, I still want you to do the same. Just with me as part of it now.”
“…”
“Does my puppy understand what I’m saying?”
The listener nodded slightly, glancing between him and the friends sitting on the floor. “I get it.”
“Then stop being grumpy, stop being possessive, and have fun watching the game with your friends.”
“But where’s you going?” Panli asked as Klai made to get off his lap.
“I’m gonna study a bit for a quiz the day after tomorrow.”
“Then these guys can move to Ne’s place to watch instead, so they don’t disturb you.”
“No, it’s totally fine. Klai’s cool with it,” he said, sliding off the sturdy lap and standing to his full height before turning to Panli’s friends sitting in front of the TV. “Have fun watching the game, everyone. I’ll be studying in my room.”
“…”
“And…” Klai turned back to the big puppy, who was staring at him intently, before adding, “…everyone can sit on the sofa now. Panli’s probably not so possessive anymore.”
“…you could just bring his books out here and study with me.”
“Klai, Klai…”
“Yeah, we won’t sit on the sofa. We’re good here on the floor.”
“Look, Om only brought this horn as a prop. No plans to blow it.”
“We’ll cheer for the game as quietly as possible so we don’t disturb Klai.”
The room’s owner broke into a wide smile at the thoughtfulness of his guests. Everyone seemed so understanding and ready to adapt to coexist comfortably. Klai, still smiling broadly, glanced at the puppy, who was nodding at his friends with a slight smirk before looking up at him and saying…
“My buddies can be a handful sometimes, but they’re good friends.”
“Damn it, I’m gonna cry!”
“If we hadn’t come to Klai’s place, would we ever hear this from Panli’s mouth?”
“Exactly! Gotta thank Khun Klaijai for getting this foul-mouthed guy who’s always cussing out his friends to say something like this.”
“Just this once, you jerks!”
Klai laughed as he watched Panli banter with his friends. Then a large hand reached out to hold his. Klai raised an eyebrow, looking at the big puppy who was sitting there with a small smile.
“What does my puppy want now?”
“Will you come sit and read with me?”
Klai could never resist Panli’s pleading. He smiled softly before nodding at the other. “Mhm… Klai can bring a book to read here.”
The big puppy grinned widely and said, “KhunKlai, take a seat. I will grab the book for you.”
Panli pulled his hand to sit back down on the long sofa. He stood to his full height and quickly strode over to his work desk. Panli glanced back at him and asked…
“Which subject, KhunKlai?”
“AL236.”
“Found it yet, Li? Need me to help?” Joke chimed in.
“Just sit there quietly, Joke…” Wit said, turning to flash a smile at Klai.
“Found it! This one, right?” Panli held up an orange book to show him.
Klai nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes, that’s the one.”
The big puppy returned with the orange book and plopped down beside him. He handed it over, and Klai couldn’t help but smile widely at the bright grin and lively sparkle in the other’s eyes.
Looks like Panli really wanted him around during the soccer match…
“Everyone, cheer for the game as usual. Klai can read his book… it’s all good.”
“Got it!”
“KhunKlai…”
“Yes?”
When Klai turned toward the voice, he saw the person beside him smiling at him. This time, it was a smile he’d never seen before—a smile laced with a certain feeling…
“Thank you…”
“...”
“Thank you for becoming a part of us.”
Klai smiled and said, “No need to thank me, Panli. It’s just a small thing we should do for each other.”
“No one’s as great as my Klaijai.”
The one being complimented burst out laughing, then leaned back to lie on the long sofa, resting his head on the sturdy lap. Klai placed the book on his chest and began flipping through the pages. His almond-shaped eyes drifted from the dense text to meet the gaze of the owner of the large hand gently stroking his head.
