My Moon, Chapter 31 pg 4

“When I first heard the name Klaijai, I thought it was very unusual, but I really liked it.”

   “…”

“When I asked Panli what it meant, he told me to wait and ask you myself.”

   “…”

“Today, I finally got to meet you, so can I ask about the meaning of your name, Klaijai?”

“Of course, Pa…” Klai said with a nod to Pa, who was sitting across from him, before continuing, “…the name Klaijai was given to me by my mother.”

   “…”

“She said it means… our hearts will always be near one another.”

Panli, sitting beside him, reached over to hold his hand, giving him a comforting smile. Klai returned a gentle smile and nodded lightly, signaling that he was okay… because Panli was by his side.

Pa smiled at him, a smile that made Klai feel the word “encouragement.” Pa was quiet for a moment before saying, “I think the meaning of the name Klaijai… isn’t off in the slightest.”

   “…”

“Because right now… your mother’s heart is still with you, Klai, always.”

   “…”

“That’s how it is, right, son?”

Besides the members of the Borirat family, Klai believed there were only a few people who could deeply understand the meaning of the name ‘Klaijai.’ And if those few were willing to sincerely understand every story of his life, it wasn’t surprising that Klai responded with…

   A smile…

“Yes, Pa… my mother’s heart is always with me.”

   …And tears.

Klai didn’t know when the clear tears started flowing, as there was no stinging sensation in his nose like usual. It was as if some overwhelming feeling had built up so much that it had to spill out as tears before all those emotions could crush his small heart.

“Klaijai… come here, come to Papa,” Pa said, beckoning him.

The small figure stood up and obediently sat beside Pa. Klai smiled at Pa while wiping the tear stains from his cheek. Pa gave him a warm smile, strikingly similar to his own father’s. Pa was quiet for a moment before embracing him. Klai pressed his lips tightly together and hugged Pa back…

   “Come be my child, Klaijai…”

   “…”

“Come be another child of mine, dear.”

   This was the moment…

When the tears came pouring out.

Klai pressed his trembling lips tightly together before responding, “Yes, Papa.”

Papa tightened the hug even more. “You don’t have to worry anymore… about your mother.”

   “…”

“You don’t have to worry about her anymore.”

Klai had never thought before whether his mother was still worried about anything. But hearing Papa’s words made him pause and realize something. And at this moment, Klai thought…

His mother must truly be at peace now.

Papa released the hug and gave him the same warm smile. He reached up to wipe the tears from Klai’s face, then gently patted his head. Klai managed a faint smile. He turned to look at his lover sitting across from him. Panli, with red-rimmed eyes, gave a small nod and flashed him a thumb-up.

   “You’re doing great…”

   Panli wasn’t crying.

   Klai knew that.

   “Papa… thank you.”

   “…”

But he was barely holding it together himself.

“Thank you, Klaijai… thanks for loving my son.”

“KhunKlai, want some clear soup? I’ll scoop it for you.”

“No worries, I’ll scoop it myself. Panli, you eat. Don’t worry about me.”

   “Klai, want more pork panang?”

When it came to pork panang, Klai couldn’t say no. He nodded and slightly extended his plate. Mama, with a wide smile, scooped some pork panang onto his plate. Klai thanked her and dug into his meal with relish.

“Looks like I’ll have to bring Klaijai over for meals more often…”

   “…”

“So I can see your Mama smile like this more often.”

Klai smiled upon hearing Dad’s words, then said, “Mom’s cooking is so delicious, it feels like I’m back eating at home.”

“I’m so glad you like it, my dear Klai,” Mom said.

“You can tell how happy she is just from her face!” Dad said, laughing.

Klai gave a small smile before glancing to his side, sensing someone had come to stand nearby. At that moment, he saw Panli’s nanny standing there, holding a rice pot.

“Would you like more rice, KhunKlai?”

Klai smiled and nodded, handing his plate to the nanny. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome...” the nanny replied with a smile, adding, “...eat lots, okay?”

   “Okay,” Klai responded.

As he spoke, the nanny returned to her spot not far from the dining table, watching him with a mix of small and wide smiles. Klai turned to Panli, who leaned in close and whispered...

“She’s the one... who secretly slipped condoms into my bag.”

The listener let out a soft laugh, flashing a smile back at the nanny before returning to his meal. However, Dad’s question drew his attention away from the plate in front of him.
