My Moon, Chapter 9 pg 3
Ding!
The elevator’s chime pulled their attention away from each other. Klai stepped out of the lift alongside Moon, who kept looking at him with a small smile.
“I have classes on this floor all the time… so I’m really familiar with it.”
It’s hard to believe… that Moon has helped the shy Klaijai grow this quickly.
“…”
“If you need to go to a specific room for your errand, just let me know. I can walk you there since my class hasn’t started yet.”
Klaijai is getting really good at extending the moment…
“Which classroom is you in?”
“I’m in room 801, the first one.” Klai pointed toward the hallway leading to the classroom.
“That’s exactly where I have business.”
Klai sensed something suspicious. He asked, “Uh, Panli, you’re not going to confront someone who made fun of my name, are you?”
“No way, KhunKlai, don’t worry,” Moon said with a laugh.
Phew... that’s a relief.
I was so startled just now.
“Then follow me. I’ll lead the way for you, Panli.”
“Thanks.”
Klai smiled at the taller person before guiding him to the classroom area. The small person brought Moon to a stop in front of the wide-open classroom door, where several students were seated, waiting for the professor. When Klai peeked inside, he saw Pie and Mai sitting at the front as usual. Then, someone who wasn’t particularly fond of him walked out.
New’s eyes widened slightly upon seeing Panli standing beside him. Klai wasn’t surprised by New’s shocked expression—New probably didn’t expect to run into Panli so easily like this.
Klai turned to the person beside him and said, “This is the room, Panli.”
“This is your classroom, right?”
Klai nodded firmly. “Mhm, is this where you have business?”
“Yup.”
“Li – ~ what are you doing on this floor?”
Their conversation was interrupted by New, who approached them. Klai turned to see New flashing a friendly smile at him. However, the usually playful Panli switched modes instantly. When New smiled, Moon went silent and didn’t smile back at all.
“I’m here to drop KhunKlai off for class.”
“...”
It wasn’t just New who was stunned by Panli’s response. Klai was equally shocked. He stared at Moon, who gave a faint smile while looking at him, then reached out to gently ruffle his hair.
“That’s my business here.”
“...”
“Study hard, okay, KhunKlai?”
“Uh, yeah.”
Klai didn’t berate himself for responding to Panli with such a short reply. He knew well how hard his brain and heart were working right now. Moon had struck him so fiercely that his defenses had crumbled.
That’s why his heart was shattered into pieces like this…
Yet Klai still had enough composure to raise his hand and wave goodbye to Moon, who was stepping back slowly. He didn’t turn away but retreated little by little, waving back.
And that radiant smile, brighter than the sun,
Made Klaijai want to send a message to his moon.
“…See you later, Panli.”
“Sure.”
Today… Klaijai’s message
Has reached his same old moon.
:)
Klai stood watching until Panli entered the elevator, then turned toward the wide-open classroom door. But New’s gaze, fixed on him, was different from before. Arms crossed, New approached with an unfriendly expression and demeanor.
“When we asked you to get Panli’s LINE, you said you didn’t know him.”
“…”
“This is what ‘not knowing’ looks like? You’re practically best friends.”
“Back then, I really didn’t know Panli…” Klai didn’t break eye contact with New for even a second. He spoke in a calm, steady tone before continuing, “But even if we’re close now… it’s none of your business.”
New’s eyes flickered with confusion mixed with anger. Klai shook his head slightly before brushing past New’s shoulder to enter the classroom. He thought arguing endlessly was a pointless waste of time.
If Klai hadn’t cut the conversation short like that…
New would probably keep picking fights with him.
